New Federal Legislation on Suicide Prevention

New Federal Legislation on Suicide Prevention
NAMI Minnesota is very excited to report that H.R. 4194 has been introduced in the House. This is bipartisan legislation that directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to designate 9-8-8 as the universal dialing code for the national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline.
Having one, simple number to call across the country will make it easy for people to know where to go when they need help and are experiencing a mental health crisis. NAMI Minnesota encourages you to reach out to your member of the U.S. House of Representatives to sign on as a co-sponsor for this important bill. So far, nobody from the Minnesota delegation has signed on and we would like to change that.
Please email your congressional representative or give a phone call about why it’s important for them to co-sponsor H.R. 4194.
